Bengaluru is not only one of the major metropolitan cities of India, but it is also the IT capital of India, and the Capital of the Indian State of Karnataka. This means that it has one of the best transportation facilities, both for passenger and goods, in India. It is well connected to all major Indian cities and towns by a good air, rail and road network.


The Bengaluru Airport

The newly constructed Bengaluru International Airport is a showpiece of the City’s infrastructural development and also that of the country in general. Located 35 km north of the Bangalore City Center, off National Highway 7, Bengaluru International Airport caters to both international travelers as well as domestic travelers.

A large of number of international flights and domestic flights offer connectivity to travelers. Domestic Airlines like Jet Airways, Indian Airlines, Indian, Spice Jet, Indigo, Air Deccan etc have regular flights from Bengaluru to various cities in India. International Flights like British Airways, Air France, KLM, Tiger Airways, Air India, also have regular flights from Bengaluru to various parts of the World.


Airport Taxi Service

The BMTC runs air conditioned bus services to and from the Bengaluru Airport. There are 12 different pick-up points in the City and the frequency of these buses is 30 minutes. With regards to airport taxi services there are a host of options available which include Easy Cabs and Meru Cabs that offer dedicated services. These are post paid cabs. Premium cars are also available for rent if you don’t want to hire a taxi. General taxi services are also available to and from the airport.

The airport has world-class facilities and services which include information centers, airline ticketing counters, medical care, IT services, postal services, baby care, financial services, and various necessary amenities and all kinds of special assistance.


Railways

Railways are essentially the transportation lifeline of India. They offer affordable transportation that is quick, safe, and comfortable. Bengaluru is connected to all parts of the country through the Indian railways. There is a whole plethora of trains that connect Bengaluru to various parts of the country. It has two main stations, namely Bengaluru City Junction, and Bengaluru Cantonment.


Bengaluru City Junction

This Railways Station is located in the City Center of Bengaluru and is its main station. It is served by the Southern and the South Western Railways. Both meter gauge, as well as, broad gauge railway services is offered by this Station.


Bengaluru Cantonment

The cantonment railway station services those passengers that want to board the train from in and around the M.G road areas. As the name suggests, the station was a part of the British Cantonment area.
