The city of Bengaluru (Bangalore) is aptly called the Garden City, because it is studded with some real gems of greenery. The place is home to a series of large parks that offer a lot of room to the joggers and others who are looking to sunbathe, or go for picnic. The city is justly proud of these parks which have designated areas for the joggers and walkers with the rest of the area is manicured and the grassy areas are constantly being watered through the sprinkler systems.

Developing new gardens has a flip side to it as well, as the older children who prefer to play cricket and football are not allowed to do so. Only families and elder citizens seem to be enjoying the beauty of some of these newly laid parks which have replaced the playgrounds of the children.

The lakes of the city were created for hydrological purpose of collecting monsoon water in the valleys so that it could be used in the lean season. The lakes have also made checking floods easier for the authorities, as well as have helped in stopping erosion.
